Are you suffering from a poor night’s sleep?

It is such a common issue which can often be easily fixed. Body Pillows are designed to help with many common problems and to provide comfort. Discomfort brought on by pregnancy, hip and back pain, to strained muscles. All of this can be fixed by using a pillow to remove the pressure on your joints.

We have hunted through the options to help you make the right choice in this list of the Best Body Pillows.

The selection is getting better, they have gone from being a normal pillow you snuggle into, to being all sorts of shapes. Our favorites are listed in the table below, followed by more detailed reviews of each option.

Leachco Snoogle 1

The Snoogle is a unique design with your body in mind. The shape of the pillow supports the neck and back and fits nicely between the legs. Having the pillow between your legs reduces pressure on your back from your top leg. This keeps your body in alignment and reduces the strain on your spine and muscles. It also prevents you from rolling forward, which can help keep you comfortable while sleeping.

The Pillow is 60inches long, and 6 inches thick. This makes it fit most people, but if you are after a bigger option, they do have the Snoogle XL.

The pillow comes with a poly/cotton cover, and they also have a 100% cotton cover available for purchase. The pillow is filled with 100% cotton which gives you a comfortable, breathable fill.

This is a firmer pillow, so if you want something soft you may want to look at a memory foam option. There was very little other negative feedback about the pillow, so I’m sure if you do purchase it you won’t be disappointed.

Comfort U Total Body Support Pillow

Comfort U 1

First of all, just let me say this is a brilliant pillow. A friend of mine purchased it while she was pregnant, and having difficulties with back pain. After just a few nights of using this, her pain had subsided and she was back to her normal happy self. After she had her baby girl, she lent me the pillow so I could write a review – I didn’t realize how badly I had been sleeping until I tried this. I had the best nights sleep in a long time, and I am now a proud owner of a Comfort U Pillow!

This pillow isn’t as firm as the Leachco Snoogle, so if you are looking for a softer option this may be a good choice. The fill is an extended polymer, which is kind of like a synthetic down material. It is very soft, which means you may need to re-fluff the pillow occasionally – but they do guarantee that it will never flatten, clump or lump, even after multiple wash/dry cycles!

The cover that comes with it is a polyester-cotton mix, they have the following spare cases that you can purchase separately:

– 50/50 poly/cotton blend
– 100% cotton
– Lightweight fleece
– medium weight fleece

I love this pillow, and most of the reviews seem to match my experience.

“Oh my Oh my!!! I have never slept more comfy in my life!!!”

GREAT PILLOW! Multiple ways to sleep with it!

This is by far the best pillow I’ve ever had.

The main problems with the pillow appear to be with softness, if you are looking for a firm pillow I suggest trying the Leachco Snoogle.

Snuggle-Pedic

Snuggle Pedic 1

  • 90 day sleep trial, and a 20 year Warranty!!

The makers of the Snuggle-Pedic are so confident that you will love their pillow, that they will give you a refund within 90 days if you don’t!

The Snuggle-Pedic is a more traditional of pillow. It is approximately 56 inches long, and 18 inches wide, and is designed to be snuggled :). It is made from a mixture of memory foam and normal foam which makes it supportive and firm, yet not as heavy as a typical memory foam pillow. Because of this inventive mixture of materials, the pillow stays fluffed up for much longer than a normal pillow.

It has a permanent thick bamboo cover which makes it much more breathable than the polyester covered pillows. I recommend purchasing a cotton link or bamboo link cover for it. Using a cover for it means it is much easier to keep clean. These options are also very breathable it will help to keep you cool during the night. The problem with Poly/cotton blends is that they do not breath as well, which means you may get hot and sweaty during the night – and nobody wants that!

This is the highest rated pillow out of our top picks, with an average of 4.7/5 stars. This shows that it is a top quality product, so if you are looking for a straight pillow this is the best option we could find.

84% of buyers gave it 5 starts, almost too good to be true! If you do buy it and you aren’t happy, just remember you can return it for a full refund.

Leachco Back ‘N Belly Contoured Body Pillow

Leachco Back N Belly 1

Another creative option from Leachco. The Leachco Back ‘N Belly is contoured to the shape of your body. It provides equal support for your back and belly which makes it a great option as a pregnancy pillow. Not only does it provide great support, it also means you can turn over without needing to adjust the pillow because it is symmetrical.

It is also helpful for issues such as sciatica, gastric reflux, congestion, fibromyalgia, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

It is quite a big pillow at 51 inches long, and it is firm so overall it provides good support. The fill is Polyester which makes it a very warm option (it won’t breath as well as the Snuggle-Pedic). It does come with a cotton cover which is a bonus, and they have additional covers available for purchase.

It has good reviews on Amazon, here are a few highlights:

Its like the Mercedes Benz of body pillows

best thing ever invented; I call it “my pregnancy pillow nest”

This is a well made pillow. It looks like it will last forever.

Body Pillow Buyers Guide

There are many reasons to make this purchase, there are a few things to consider before you start looking:

  • Do you sleep on your back or side?
  • Do you need back support?
  • Do you need support during pregnancy?

If you do not need back support, and are a side sleeper, than a traditional straight pillow is probably the best option, and in my opinion the best quality products can be found here. The U & other shape products are well made and very comfortable, but the level of quality isn’t quite up to the standard of the straight pillows.

If you do need back support, or sleep on your back, then one of the U shaped pillows is the best option. They are still very good products (as you can see in the reviews), so I’m sure you will be happy with your purchase.

Picking a Pillow

Now that you know what type of pillow you want to purchase, you can look at the materials and the specific shape.

– Leachco Snoogle shaped pillow. This pillow is a creative shape which is designed to give you neck, back and leg support. This makes it fit for a certain type of sleeper. If you are a side sleeper, and want total body support, this is a great option.
– U shaped pillow. These are great for support during pregnancy, and for back support. They can be used in more positions than the Leachco Snoogle, so if you also sleep on your back then you will want to consider one of these. They can be moved into many positions for total comfort.
– Straight Body Pillow. The traditional style. These are the typical pillow that a side sleeper would use, especially if you like to sleep in the fetal position. You can get great deals on high quality products, and there is a large range to choose from.

Size

The main thing to consider when picking the size of the pillow is how tall you are. If you are under 6 foot tall, most of the normal sized pillows will be fine. If you are over 6 foot, I recommend looking at one of the XL products, like the Leachco Snoogle Chic XL LINK

Material

The main things to remember to look for in the materials comes down to what you are after.

If you are looking for a cool/breathable pillow, try to find one that has a 100% Bamboo or Cotton cover. Latex or Memory Foam also breath better than polyester fills.

If you want a mold-able, soft pillow, memory foam is the most likely option to fit your needs. Cotton fills will be softer, but will compress down a lot more and may end up feeling firm.

Other features to look for:

  • Some pillows don’t come with removable covers, which means you will need to purchase them separately
  • Does the supplier have spare covers available? If not, it can make laundry day a pain (If it means you can’t use the pillow – literally!)
  • Sleep trial – some brands have trial periods for the products, if you want a risk free option then they are worth a try
  • Wedge Pillow – If you are looking for more pregnancy support a wedge pillow is a good option. They provide support in a range of positions, from feeding, to sitting, to napping with your child
