Brentwood Home are a very successful company specializing mattresses, pillows and accessories. The are based in Los Angeles and have a long track record of providing locally designed and made, high quality products. The Brentwood Zuma is one of 3 in their wedge pillow range.
There are 3 different sizes that the Zuma comes in – 7, 10 and 12 inch. That is the thickness of the pillow at it’s thickest point. The pillows are all 24″ x 24″ which is the perfect size for sleeping on.
The cover is made out of bamboo fiber, which has a similar feel to cotton so it is very comfortable. It is also removable which makes washing easy for general cleanliness, of if you have a spill. They also have spare covers that you can purchase here Brentwood spare cover
According to their website, the pillow can help with – GERD (acid reflux), snoring, allergies, problem breathing, poor circulation, hiatal hernia, back or neck problems, and potentially any other breathing issues you have while sleeping – even sleep apnea!
Overall the reviews are very positive. A few notes to help you from the low reviews (there aren’t many!):
– If it is your first wedge and you are concerned about the height, start off with the 7″ option. This will gently raise your upper body.
– After you receive the pillow, take the cover off and let the pillow air out. If it is sunny, leave the pillow in the sun for a few hours to help get rid of the smell. Often pillows have a weird smell when they first come out of the packaging, it is nothing to be concerned about although it isn’t pleasant.
– These pillows are quite firm. If you prefer softer pillows or soft mattresses, you may want to consider their gel memory foam pillow (more information below), or one of the other options I have reviewed
The Pfeiffer Therapeutic Gel Foam Wedge is a softer option which is designed to mold to the shape of your body. As it is memory foam, it relieves the pressure on your body which is great if you’re a side sleeper. It is slightly larger, with 8, 11 and 13 inch options.
Generally the reviews have been very good, on average 4.3/5 with 64% 5 stars! It is unlikely that you will be disappointed with this product, but if you are, they have a 30 day money back guarantee.Buy from Amazon
This is a very large pillow, which isn’t just a gimmick! It was designed this way so that your body isn’t bent at a big angle in the middle, it just gently raises your torso and head to help with health issues, and comfort.
The cover is a microfiber material which is softer than most cottons. It is also removable for easy cleaning. They sell spare covers as well which are made from Poly Cotton (45% cotton). The spare covers can be found here: Medslant spare cover. You can also find microfiber covers, and allergen barrier covers which are a bit more expensive, but well worth it if that’s what you’re after.
The pillow itself has a 1 inch memory foam layer on it, which helps it to adjust to the shape of your body, and reduces the pressure compared with traditional foam pillows.
The Pillow is 30″ wide x 32″ long. At this size it takes up half the width of a queen bed. If you have a smaller bed you may want to look at their smaller option, which is the Foldable Wedge at 24″ wide.
This is definitely the premium option out of our top picks, but if you value your health and your sleep, do consider it if it matches your needs. The pillow is highly rated at 4.4/5.
Most of the reviews for the Medsland were very positive. The few negative reviews had a common them about the pillow not expanding properly after being unwrapped. If this does happen to your pillow when you order it, just send it back and they will send you a new one.Buy from Amazon
The makers of the Bamboo Wedge Pillow have so much confidence in their product that they will give you your money back if you don’t sleep better on it!
This pillow is recommended for a wide range of issues, including back pain and GERD. At 7.5 inches high, it has a moderate slant which makes it a good choice for your first wedge. It has a 1.5inch memory foam top which gives it a very soft feel, and will mold to your body. Under the memory foam, it has a firm foam base which gives great support.
This great pillow is 26 inches wide x 25 inches long, which puts it in between the first 2 options. It is just under half the width of a US Double/Full size bed, which makes it ideal if you are sharing the bed with a partner. Or if you want to buy 2 of them, it will cover almost the whole width of the bed.
This is another very well reviewed option, with 73% or buyers giving it 5 stars! It has an average rating of 4.3/5.
Less than 1 in 10 buyers didn’t like the pillow, the main issue was that the pillow smelled bad when they unpacked it. This is normal with memory foam pillows, you will just need to air out the pillow before using it. I recommend leaving it out for 24-48 hours before you use it, putting it out in the sun will also help to get rid of the smell.Buy from Amazon
Another solid option for many common ailments – GERD, backpain, snoring and more. It comes with a memory foam top for comfort, with support from foam made to hold your body and head at the right angle.
This is a hypoallergenic option – guaranteed not to contain BPA products, phthalate, latex or lead. It is also dustmite resistant so you can be confident about looking after yourself and your family when you make your purchase.
The 60% Polyester 40% Cotton cover is removable so you can wash it, but I haven’t been able to find any replacement covers for it. If you need replacement covers, I recommend contacting PharMeDoc and they should be able to help you to find one.
This pillow is 25.5 inches wide x 27inches long. At it’s highest it is 9 inches which may be too high for your first purchase (I recommend 7-8 inches for your first pillow to see if they help).
At the time of writing, this is the cheapest option out of our top picks, so it is well worth giving it a try. It is rated 4.4/5 which is incredible for the price. The main issues that buyers had was with the angle of the pillow, but there were very few complaints. They have 69% of people giving it 5 stars!Buy from Amazon
Most of us will spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping, it is a time to relax, recover, and it is critical to sleep well if you want to have a good quality of life. They are a great option to consider if you are having any of these issues:
There are literally hundreds of different options to choose from. So I have done the hard work – I have filtered through the poor quality products, read the reviews, and collated all the information I could find into this guide.
If you have any questions that I haven’t covered, please feel free to contact me and I will answer you as soon as I can.
If you are going to use the pillow for sleeping on, the 2 most important factors are:
– Size of the pillow
When you are deciding no the pillow size, it isn’t just about the height of the pillow, you also need to consider the length. If a Pillow is high, and short, then the angle of your body will be steep, and you may not find it comfortable. I recommend purchasing a pillow with a low slant for your first pillow. The Medslant is the longest option so it has the lowest angle, but it is much more expensive than the others. My recommendation is the Baby Reflux Wedge Pillow as you can try the 7 inch option and see if you find it comfortable.
There are 2 aspects to consider when it comes to the materials – what he cover is made out of, and what the fill is. The most common covers are polyester, cotton and bamboo (generally a mix of 2 of them). If you can get 100% cotton or bamboo, it will be more comfortable than poly/cotton, or poly/bamboo. 100% cotton or bamboo will be much softer than the mix, and will also breath a lot better which helps prevent overheating.
